Seven of eight city pages on page one for a new interim finance staffing firm
A newly launched interim accounting and finance staffing firm had almost no organic footprint in the cities it served. We built its site architecture around search intent and briefed every page its own team wrote. Within about a year, seven of its eight city pages were on page one for “accounting staffing” in their city.

The client
A new firm placing interim finance leaders
A newly launched affiliate of an established accounting advisory firm, placing interim accounting and finance professionals: interim CFOs, controllers, finance managers and offshore accountants. It serves clients across nine markets, from Houston and Dallas to Miami and Salt Lake City, from a site built on Webflow.
The engagement began in January 2025 with a defined first phase: an audit, keyword mapping, 15 core-page content briefs and a best-practices guide. It is ongoing, with monthly reporting, a content calendar booked into 2027, and link building added in 2026. The client’s own team writes and publishes; we set the strategy, brief every page, review, and report.
The challenge
A new firm, a thin site, and established competitors
The site was a handful of insights articles and a press release. It had no location pages, no pages for the roles the firm places, and no pages for the problems clients bring it in to solve.
The domain was young, with around 36 referring domains against more than a thousand for the national staffing firms it competes with.
The goal was visibility in each of its markets for “accounting staffing” searches in that city, and rankings for the interim roles it places. Recruiting content for accountants leaving the Big 4 came second.
The approach
Four decisions that built the footprint
-
1
Site architecture built around search intent
Keyword mapping produced four page types, each with its own brief and design template: 8 city location pages, 10 interim role pages, 6 seniority profile pages and around 14 use-case pages, from month-end close to SEC reporting and audit readiness. The main navigation was rebuilt to match.
-
2
City pages written for each market
City-specific language, the roles placed in that market, how the process works, and the questions clients there ask. These became the most-tracked pages on the site, and the source of most of its growth.
-
3
Running the content engine, not just the strategy
Writer-ready briefs went to the client’s writer, through marketing review, and out on a weekly calendar. Existing insights articles got optimization recommendations. In 2026 we added authority building: five editorial placements on finance and business sites.
-
4
Spending the budget where it moves rankings
The audit found little to fix technically beyond robots.txt and schema, so the budget went to content. Industry pages stayed out of the navigation, so industries not listed weren’t put off, and we pushed back on articles that drifted outside the firm’s expertise.
The results
Page one in seven of eight cities
Rank tracking began in July 2025. Within about a year, seven of the eight city pages were on page one for “accounting staffing” in their city, and clicks to the location pages had grown roughly fivefold.

The client’s team did the writing
Every page was written and published by the client’s own team. Our part was the strategy, the briefs, the review and the reporting.
